The Pavilion
The Pavilion on Howwood Park is a football changing facility which has been closed for around 14 years. During this time the building has fallen into disrepair.
Friends of Howwood Park submitted an application for a Community Asset Transfer of the building from Renfrewshire Council.
The proposal is to refurbish the building and to return it to community use, not only as a football changing facility, but as a hub for park activities.
The application was approved at Renfrewshire Councils Infrastructure, Land and Environment Policy Board on 27th January 2021.
We are now in the process of awaiting a lease and are raising funds to upgrade the building. As of July 2022, we have replaced the roof covering, rectified rot, removed asbestos, stripped out the interior including ceilings, doors, the kitchen, the electrics and pipework, and completed the first fix electrics and mechancial installation.
To date we have been granted £50,000 from Renfrewshire Councils Community Empowerment Fund towards the project, £2,450 from the Glasgow Airport Flightpath Fund, £1,000 from the Arnold Clark Community Fund, and £500 from Tesco Community Grants.
