The Pavilion

The Pavilion on Howwood Park is a football changing facility which has been closed for around 20 years.  During this time the building has fallen into disrepair.

Friends of Howwood Park submitted an application for a Community Asset Transfer of the building from Renfrewshire Council.

The proposal is to refurbish the building and to return it to community use, not only as a football changing facility, but as a hub for park activities.

The application was approved at Renfrewshire Councils Infrastructure, Land and Environment Policy Board on 27th January 2021.

As at November 2023, we have replaced the roof covering, rectified rot, removed asbestos, replaced the ceilings, doors, windows, kitchen, electrics and plumbing.

We have altered the interior layout to include a disabled toilet. This has been possible through grants awarded to us from various sources, including £50,000 from Renfrewshire Councils Community Empowerment Fund, £2,840 from Renfrewshire Council's Climate Challenge Fund, £2,450 from the Glasgow Airport Flightpath Fund, £1,000 from the Arnold Clark Community Fund, and £500 from Tesco Community Grants.

In October 2023, we were awarded a grant of £25,000 from the Community Led Local Development Fund Capital Grants Scheme, awarded by Greater Renfrewshire and Inverclyde Local Action Group on behalf of the Scottish Government, for which we are extremely grateful. This money will be used to clad the external walls of the Pavilion, which will make a huge difference to both the appearance and sustainability of the building. This work will be complete by the end of February 2024..
